A small but mighty ORNL Nuclear Operations crew responded to the cold and snow over the last two weekends. They conducted the following activities at Liquid and Gaseous Waste Operations facilities and Surveillance and Maintenance facilities across ORNL.
- Snow clearing: Removal of accumulated snow from access roads, parking lots, walkways, and operational routes to maintain safe mobility.
- De-icing operations: Application of salt or other de-icing agents on high-traffic areas, stairs, and ramps to prevent slips and falls.
- Safety signage and barriers: Installing warning signs and barriers in locations prone to ice accumulation and overhead hazard areas.
- Inspection and documentation: Conducted site walkdowns to confirm readiness for normal operations across ORNL including the White Oak Creek Sediment Retention Structure for compliance and reporting.
