Traditional workplaces often reward a specific type of worker: highly social, quick to speak in meetings, and comfortable making eye contact. However, these traits do not measure actual talent.
Neurodivergent employees (those who think, learn, and solve problems outside of traditional ways) bring incredible strengths to our teams. They offer creative problem-solving, deep focus, and unique viewpoints. We must build a culture that measures actual results rather than how loudly someone speaks.
- Manager Tip: Send meeting agendas in advance. This gives everyone time to process information and prepare their thoughts.
- Team Member Tip: Appreciate different collaboration styles. Some teammates share great ideas in writing after a meeting rather than speaking up during it.
