To the UCOR Workforce:
This morning, I had the pleasure of attending and being a keynote speaker at UCOR’s 14th Annual Small Business Awards ceremony. We recognized six small businesses for their critical contributions to our mission.
These small business partners are integral to UCOR fulfilling the Department of Energy Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management’s most complex environmental cleanup work. We need small businesses to continue accelerating cleanup, removing aging facilities, restoring legacy footprints for new missions, and enabling the nation’s nuclear resurgence happening here in East Tennessee.
These invisible warriors behind the restoration of Oak Ridge really made their mark this year supporting our cleanup mission.
- AISI-CTI JV, LLC cleared land for the Environmental Management Disposal Facility project.
- Elite Landscapes Inc. enabled waste processing operations at the Transuranic Waste Processing Center.
- JSH Web Designs developed UCOR’s mobile app for UCOR employees to help reach over 500 field workers and ensure they receive critical information.
- McCall Industrial Supply Co., LLC identified hard-to-find valves, pipes, flanges, and other industrial products that are used on every project every day.
- Premier Contracting & Technical Services, Inc. supported concrete pours at the Beta-1 building.
- Southeast Equipment Sales cleared over 39 acres of land at White Wing Scrapyard, giving crews access to remediate and remove material from the decades-old scrap yard.
UCOR is known across the DOE Complex for performance excellence, and these six small businesses help us maintain this reputation, supporting EM’s mission through every step on every project at top-performance levels. Join me in thanking our partners for their contributions and congratulating them on this recognition.
Best Regards,
Jim Blankenhorn
UCOR President and Program Manager
