As we return from the holidays, it is important to refocus and keep safety first. Implement the following before and while performing work:
- Inspect work areas to identify changed conditions and hazards.
- Immediately report hazards so they can be corrected or correct them yourself if within your scope.
- Ensure that training and access cards are current.
- Maintain good housekeeping to prevent slips, trips, falls, dropped objects, and other mishaps.
- Inspect tools, equipment, and PPE to confirm they are in good working condition prior to use. Remove damaged tools from service and ensure their replacement.
- Actively participate in a pre-job briefing, focusing on the work to be completed, hazards you might encounter, and controls required to work safely.
We all have the right and responsibility to ask questions, raise concerns, and stop work if it is perceived to be unsafe. Refocus on safety and watch out for your teammates.
